Nichrome, an alloy composed mainly of nickel and chromium, is highly regarded for its exceptional strength, plasticity, and corrosion resistance. This alloy is capable of withstanding even highly aggressive environments, thanks in part to the addition of approximately 1% various metal additives.

Notably, nichrome exhibits high specific electrical resistance and remains resistant to elevated temperatures, maintaining its resistance even when subjected to significant heat.

The exceptional plasticity of nichrome wire allows it to be easily coiled into spirals, making it ideal for tightly winding electric heating elements. These heating elements are known for their durability, thanks to nichrome’s inherent strength, which enables them to endure substantial mechanical loads without deformation. Furthermore, nichrome remains resistant to corrosion and performs well in highly aggressive environments. Its high yield strength also allows for the production of extremely thin wire. Additionally, the alloy’s relatively low density, approximately 8.4 g/cm³, significantly reduces the overall weight of structures in which it is used.

One of the most crucial characteristics of nichrome wire, namely its electrical resistance, is determined by its diameter and the specific alloy grade employed.

Applications of Nichrome Wire:

The combination of plasticity, high yield strength, and resistance to aggressive environments positions nichrome and its products as highly sought-after materials in industrial manufacturing. It holds a prominent place in the modern market for household and industrial electrical equipment.

Nichrome wire, particularly the X20N80 grade, finds application across several industrial sectors, especially in systems involving electric heating furnaces and heating devices. It is commonly used in electric furnaces, devices operating at high temperatures, and drying and firing furnaces. Nichrome wire also serves as a resistor and heating element.

This nichrome product is highly effective in situations requiring resistance to heat, high temperatures, and chemicals—making it suitable for use in aggressive environments. Nichrome wire is successfully employed in resistors, rheostats, and resistance units, particularly in devices where a high level of reliability is imperative.
