Lead wire

Lead wire is a product of rolled lead with a long length, with an oval or square cross-section around it. It looks like a lead cord, a thread. For ease of transportation, lead wire is rolled into coils or skeins, or wound on coils. To prevent the coiled wire from breaking, kinks, twists, knots, and sharp bends in the cord should be avoided.

Properties and characteristics of lead wire:

• plasticity and softness;
• passivity to sulfuric and hydrochloric acids;
• high resistance to corrosion;
• ease of use;
• low price for lead wire.

A quality lead wire should have a smooth, flat and clean surface. Quality control includes checking the product for breakage (each batch is examined, with a diameter of 3 mm or more – two rolls). There should be no visible inclusions, cavities or other defects on the fracture.

C1 lead wire is made of primary lead with high chemical purity, which contains 99.985% of pure lead and only 0.015% of impurities (copper, iron, zinc, silver, arsenic, tin, antimony, beryllium). Lead wire C1 is distinguished by very high resistance to corrosion processes and good plasticity.

Application of lead wire
This type of lead rolled metal is widely used in the transport industry, electrical engineering. Wire made from some lead alloys can be used in medicine or in the manufacture of clocks in the home. Lead wire is also a raw material for the manufacture of many other products.

Therefore, lead wire and its alloys are used:

• in the transport sector;
• connection of pipelines, coining of joints of tubing cast-iron fasteners (lead hermetically and evenly fills the seam);
• in everyday life (production of sinkers for fishing, flies);
• in the electrical engineering industry;
• during the manufacture of watch mechanisms;
• glass industry;
• in medicine.
