Stainless steel Pipe

A round stainless pipe is a part of a cylindrical shape made of stainless steel, the cross-section of which is less than the length.

A round stainless pipe, along with a stainless sheet, is nowadays the most common and popular type of rolled stainless steel, which is used in many industries – both in construction and as an element of decor.

Round stainless pipes differ in diameter, wall thickness, length, and the material and technology used for their production. Most often, round stainless rolled products are made of austenitic chrome-nickel steel alloyed with several elements. The main function of this product is the transportation from the supplier (source) to the consumer of liquid or gaseous substances, in aggressive conditions where high corrosion resistance of the pipeline is required.

Properties of round stainless pipes:

• high plasticity and viscosity;
• excellent resistance to corrosion processes, thanks to which the use of rolled products with highly aggressive media is allowed;
• the possibility of using stainless steel pipes in a wide temperature range;
• resistance to vibrations and mechanical influences;
• bactericidal properties that allow products to be used in the food industry;
• long service life;
• relatively light weight.

Grade or rolled sheet metal is used as a blank for the production of round stainless steel pipes.

Seamless stainless steel pipes are produced by longitudinal rolling on specialized rolling mills. Solid blanks are subjected to longitudinal piercing with subsequent processing of the metal surface and calibration of the inner and outer diameter. Calibration on the outside diameter improves the appearance of the product, and on the inside – it improves the condition of the inner surface, i.e. defects that could affect the flow of liquid in the pipe are removed.

The most popular method of manufacturing seamless pipes with a round cross-section is reduction. In this case, a stainless circle is used as a blank, which is pulled out with simultaneous crimping from the sides. Then comes the firmware. With this method, you can make pipes both hot and cold.

Seamless hot-deformed stainless steel pipe made of high-carbon alloy steel is also produced by another technology, on rolling mills using a screw method of workpiece processing. Modern technologies make it possible to automatically change the standard dimensions of the final product.

Welded round pipes made of stainless steel are produced from a stainless sheet of a certain size or a strip (it is a product of rolled steel in the form of a strip, tape). The workpiece is formed and welded. Depending on the seam, round welded pipes are divided into spiral-seam and straight-seam electrowelded products.
