Special steel sheet is a flat metal plate made from a specialized type of steel. It has a constant thickness and different dimensions, including length and width, depending on the specific requirements and application. Special steel sheets have a number of characteristics that make them a valuable material in various industries.

The main characteristics of special steel sheets include:

  • Strength: Sheets made of special steel have high strength, which allows them to withstand mechanical loads and forces without deformation or rupture. This makes them an ideal material for creating strong and reliable structures.
  • Heat resistance: Some types of special steel sheets have the ability to maintain their strength and structure at high temperatures. This makes them suitable for use in conditions associated with high thermal load, for example in the production of boilers, furnaces and other thermal devices.
  • Chemical resistance: Special steel sheets can be highly resistant to chemical reagents, corrosion and aggressive environments. This makes them applicable in the chemical industry, the oil and gas industry, as well as in the production of containers, pipelines and other components in contact with chemicals.
  • Machining and forming: Sheets made of special steel have good machinability and the ability to be easily formed. This allows them to be used in various machining processes such as cutting, bending, welding and stamping to create a variety of products and components.

One of the most popular areas of application of special steel sheets is shipbuilding. The nature of the conditions in which marine vessels and structures are operated requires the compliance of the rolled metal used for their construction with strict requirements.

Sheets and plates combine:

  • very high strength characteristics, which allow to reduce the weight of the cladding;
  • the ability to absorb high loads without changing the shape and causing residual deformation;
  • good weldability. The use of a welded method of connecting sheets instead of a bolted one, in addition to reducing the weight of the cladding, ensures the smoothness of the surface of the body;
  • resistance to marine corrosion;
  • perception of mechanical processing, the possibility of cold and hot deformation;
  • preservation of a given level of strength and plasticity in different temperature regimes;
  • resistance to chemical reagents and radiation.
