Fechral wire is a type of alloy composed of iron, chromium, and aluminum, with the inclusion of manganese and silicon additives. This wire is typically produced in coils or wound onto spools at the manufacturing facility.

Fechral alloy can be considered nearly ideal for certain applications due to its exceptional properties. It boasts a high melting point (approximately 1450°C) along with high electrical resistivity (ranging from 1.1 to 1.3 μΩ×mm²/m). Even when exposed to high temperatures, it retains its properties. Fechral wire also has a relatively low specific gravity, measuring 7.2 g/cm³.

Applications:

Fechral wire is employed as a crucial component in heating elements for household electrical appliances and industrial electric furnaces. It is also actively utilized in creating resistance units, convection heaters, heat guns, hair dryers, rheostats, and resistors.

Advantages:

The popularity of this material is attributed to several key advantages:

  • High melting point.
  • High specific electrical resistance.
  • Comparatively lower cost, making it nearly six times cheaper than nichrome wire.
  • Excellent resistance to corrosion in various environments, including oxidation, sulfur, carbon, vacuum, argon, and air.
  • Low specific weight, making it much lighter than similar alloys.
  • Excellent fluidity, allowing for the use of smaller wire diameters.
  • High resistance to increased mechanical loads.

These qualities make fechral wire highly effective for manufacturing a wide range of electrical heating appliances.

Fechral wire, particularly the X23Y5T grade, consists of approximately 22-24% chromium and only 0.6% nickel, making it an alloy of iron, chromium, and aluminum. This wire is more heat-resistant compared to similar nichrome products from the X15N60 and X20N80 brands.

In comparison to nichrome, fechral is more cost-effective due to its use of more affordable aluminum instead of nickel in its production. The wire manufacturing process also influences its pricing, as it cannot be cold processed due to its brittle nature. Special drawing and pressing technologies are employed, which differ in terms of energy consumption. Additionally, the cost of the wire can vary based on its diameter.

Fechral wire can have a diameter of at least 0.1 mm, and wire with this diameter is among the most popular and preferred by industrial users.

Today, fechral holds a prominent position in the market of rolled metals thanks to its combination of high consumer properties, excellent technical characteristics, and competitive pricing.
