Babbit Ingot
Babbitt is an anti-friction foundry alloy based on tin, with the addition of copper, lead, antimony and other alloying components.
The density of tin babbit is 7380 kg/m³. It is distinguished by a low hardness value of 27-30 units on the Brinell scale. At the same time, compared to other anti-friction alloys, babbit B83 has the highest plasticity index.
The content of tin in Babbitt B83 makes it resistant to weak acids and alkalis. Babbitt does not oxidize in the air and is resistant to the action of the water environment.
The field of application of B83 is bearings operating at high speeds and medium loads. Turbine bearings, cross-head, butterfly and frame bearings of low-speed diesel engines, support bearings of propeller shafts.
It is produced in the form of a 15-16 kg bag, enclosed in a bag weighing up to 1 ton, tied with four steel bands.
