Thermocouple wire
The composition of the thermocouple wire usually includes various alloys, the physical characteristics of which directly depend on the ratio of the components contained in them:
- Alumella is characterized by high softness and maintaining strength for a long time.
- Constantan, interacting in the composition of the alloy with such elements as iron, copper, chromel, is characterized by increased resistance, which is associated with temperature changes.
- The droplet, interacting as an alloy with such elements as ferrum, cuprum, chromel, is characterized by a high thermal conductivity, minimal resistance, as well as increased heat resistance and corrosion resistance.
- Chromel is extremely heat-resistant, and a large change in its thermal conductivity is also possible.
All alloys used in the production of thermocouple wire have some common advantages:
- increased resistance to heat;
- low density;
- high electrical resistance;
- insignificant coefficient of resistance to temperature;
- significant t.e.d.s.
The last of the listed characteristics, namely thermoelectromotive force, is the most important indicator for thermocouple alloys, its consistently high indicators are very important.
Areas where thermocouple wire is used
It is used to make thermocouples (temperature conversion devices based on the thermoelectric effect), thermoelectrode extension wires for conversion and measurement devices in automation systems designed to work at elevated temperatures.
