Copper is one of the most demanded materials in industrial production. However, it is rarely used in its pure form. As a rule, additional components are used during the smelting of such rolled products, and copper-nickel alloys are among the most in demand.
These materials are distinguished by high indicators of hardness and strength, are well amenable to various types of processing, and also have excellent anti-corrosion qualities. Due to this, copper-based nickel alloys have become widely used in various industries.
The main volume of such products consists of two-component formulations. Due to the increased nickel content, they are distinguished by strength and a high coefficient of electrical resistance. In addition, this component allows to reduce the thermal conductivity of copper and its plasticity.
However, if necessary, various auxiliary substances can be added to the composition of such material. These are manganese and zinc, cupric, iron and other materials.
Depending on this, alloys are divided into several types:
- electrical engineering;
- structural;
- Jewelry.
In materials of the first type, as a rule, manganese is used. At the same time, its share may exceed the amount of nickel. Such products are characterized by increased electrical conductivity.
Nickel-copper alloys of the structural group are smelted using various metals. These are manganese and aluminum, chromium and zinc. Their main qualities are high hardness, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.
Jewelry includes compounds that are best amenable to various processing methods, including deformation and cutting. In addition, they have high fluidity when heated.
